In the first book No Ifs, Ands or Bears, Clan leader, Itan Ty, answers a call as sheriff of the Clan's hometown, where a werebear is attacking a Mia a new resident to the town. Mia knows all about werebears. Her father is a werebear and her mother was human. Mia can't shift. When she returns to her new home she finds a baby bear in her pantry. When a werebear comes pounding on the door for the bear, Mia decides that she just can't put the baby into the werebear's custody until she knows exactly what is going on.

The same goes for the sexy sheriff. Ty knows that there is something special about Mia, but bears don't mate for life so why is his bear saying that he should take Mia forever. This first book is a good introduction to the Grayslake series offering a good backstory and conflict for the couple. In book 2 All Roar and No Bite, Grayslake werebear enforcer Van has hated humans since he was a young child, but he doesn't realize how far that hate has gone until he meets his own human mate Lauren.

When Lauren steps in the middle of a fight between her best friend and her friend's husband the mayor Van is called out as a deputy with the local police department. When he arrests Lauren, he realizes there is just something about her that keeps him coming back. When he realizes that Lauren is in danger, his bear pushes him to protect. Lauren has no idea that there are werebears, and when she accidentally finds out the werebears law says she either needs to be mated to a bear or killed so that she can't share their secret.

This second story brings on its own challenges for the Grayslake werebear clan and specifically Van and Lauren. This story gives readers the chance to learn more about the other members of the clan family. While this book can be read alone, it is good to read the first book in the series to learn about the clan and other members of past and future story lines.

Of course, he has to ruin things by trying to take the cub out of her hands. Then things change. Threats arise, danger comes close, and Ty demands she return to his den. No ifs, ands, or mates about that. Human Lauren has a protective streak a mile wide and one immediate goal in life—get her best friend out of an abusive household. If that involves a little bat-based redecorating, so be it. Unfortunately—or fortunately—a certain sexy-as-hell cop breaks up the fight before she has a chance to really get going. Grayslake police officer Van Abrams is too hot for his own good, and his handcuffs make all those wonderful places tingle.

Too bad he, you know, arrested her and stuff. But then he becomes overbearing, demanding, and commanding. Suddenly Lauren finds herself in his arms, in his bed, and mated to his werebear butt. Of course, when danger rolls in from Boyne Falls and joins with a powerful prick from Grayslake, Van realizes that, human or not, Lauren is his. Unfortunately, all that comes with a lot of blood, tears, and balls of fur. In this one, boy bears really do drool and human girls rule and kick ass. We also learn that you can never have enough baseball bats, brake fluid, or fire pokers.

Her carefully built existence is threatened further when a gorgeous werebear strides into her life and demands not just her heart, but her very soul. In reality, his inner-animal wants to go on a bloody rampage and kill half of Grayslake—just because it can. When push comes to shove, Keen has to decide if he would rather have the family he was born with, or Trista—the woman who makes him realize that true happiness comes in a lush, hyena-shaped package.

Enjoy the third book in the bestselling Grayslake series. What happens when a half-blind weremole girl falls for a scarred werebear guy? A match made in furry, dirt-caked heaven. Weremole Kira Kolanowski has spent twenty-nine-ish years of her life half-blind and occasionally half-dead. Isaac Abrams is leaving Grayslake. Maybe he will stay—stay and keep Kira Kolanowski all to himself. Continuing series featuring a secret group of shifters, witches and hunters battling for survival and power.

In Christa Wick's series shifters live in a secret world being pursued by a group of hunters who are interested in killing and draining their power. Within each clan is a witch obligated from birth to take care of the clan. The hunters also want the witch's power, so the shifters protect the witch. In first book, Wolf Curves, Alpha Seth meets his mate, Leah in an elevator while out searching for hunters.

The only thing is his mate isn't a wolf, but there is something about her that has made the wolf inside Seth sit up and take notice. It appears that Leah is a latent wolf. She can't shift, but she has wolf genes in her family tree. Leah doesn't know anything about werewolves and witches and can't understand why suddenly hunters want her dead. Left with emotional wounds, she resists her growing affection for Alexandros Giannakos, an old acquaintance. But his persistence and unconditional love for Ana and her child is eventually rewarded and his love is returned.

In a misguided, but well-intentioned effort to protect the ones they love, both Ana and Alex keep secrets - ones that could threaten the delicate balance of their family. Now Greek-American teenagers, Sophia and Dean, who have shared a special connection since childhood, become lovers. Sophia is shattered when Dean rebels against the pressure his father places on him to uphold his Greek heritage and hides his feelings for her.

Tess Kingston is a young bride suffering the worst tragedy imaginable. Just as she is finally piecing her life together again, long-kept skeletons come clawing out of the closet and she finds herself at odds with her once-beloved in-laws and in the cross hairs of the police. Hudson Marks is a promising new lawyer hired to represent the beautiful widow in a bitter estate battle and ends up defending her against looming charges of murder instead. Three generations. Sacrifices for love… Who is she really? Nicole is about to find out as she searches for her real mother; the woman who gave her away at birth.

With her marriage in tatters, she sets out from England: travelling to Spain, Jersey and Guernsey before the extraordinary story of her real family is finally revealed. Nicole becomes an unwitting catalyst for change in the family. Two women are forced to reveal long-buried secrets. One going back as far as the Second World War. Lives are transformed as choices have to be made and the past laid to rest… This contemporary romantic drama is the second of The Guernsey Novels, a series of stand-alone books by the award-winning author Anne Allen.

It is likely to appeal to lovers of the works of Joanna Trollope and Maeve Binchy. I felt nicely grounded! In much the same way that Allen wormed Jeanne into my heart I really found that I cared for Nicole and willing her on to make the right decisions and a success of her life. Allen has a real talent for her female characters. The men don't come off the page quite as well, but that's a minor quibble. Tracing a birth parent when you've been adopted is a sensitive subject and Allen handles it well, recognising the insecurities of the adopting parents who wonder if they're going to be supplanted and the worries of the mother who gave up the child soon after her birth.

Will she be judged for her relationship with the child's father and for the fact that she made no attempt to bring the child up herself? There's an added complication here in that Nicole will also find out about her birth father - giving her more parents than any girl should decently want! It's neatly, elegantly done and the story is a real page turner. All work and no love can make for a dull life. But cupid's arrow has a habit of striking when you least expect it A heartwarming, feel-good romance to curl up with.

Is he willing to lose Nikki to save his country? I enjoyed the way the author described Titus Ray's internal struggles and character flaws creating a very authentic main character. The story was action-packed and one is left wondering how the author could be so knowledgeable of the CIA and the work of their covert operatives.

I felt my blood pressure going up and down. Much suspense, twists and turns. I gave it five stars for the great storyline and characters that seem so real. Accident or Murder? Only love, true cunning, and a bit of luck may possibly prove her successful in this battle for the one she love. Small-town lawyer Taylor Anne Larsen faces the challenge of doing the same for the pain-ravaged heart and disbelieving soul of ranch foreman Cal Ruskoff.

Armed with the same grace and grit as the wildflower fireweed, Taylor also has allies — a matchmaking friend, a harsh western blizzard, high-octane mutual attraction, and a rescued puppy who slips past the defenses of this tough cowboy. While they're snowbound together, Cal might give in to passion temporarily, but from behind the wall he's built around his past and his secrets, he's certain Taylor is all that he can't let himself have.

As a reader, I couldn't help fall under Cal's spell -- a good, troubled, mixed-up man who forces Taylor to confront some of her own demons, even as he refuses to face his own. There's a lot of subtle -- and not so subtle -- humor here, the love scenes are at once tender and sizzling, and the emotions and fears of both characters wrap themselves around the reader's heart and don't let go.

Author's note: The collie puppy in Match Made in Wyoming is the alter ego of my much-loved rescue collie Riley Although for Taylor and Cal, it turns out to be the right moment. Vivienne Stark, a writer and military widow, has spent almost two decades of her life avoiding having a life.

Treachery and theft lead to death — and love Teresa Bichard and her baby are sent by her beloved husband, Leo, to England as the Germans draw closer to Guernsey. Days later they invade… Leo, of Jewish descent, is betrayed to the Germans and is sent to a concentration camp, never to return. Heartbroken, she returns to England. Nigel and his twin Fiona, buy a long-established antique shop in Guernsey and during a refit, find a hidden stash of paintings, including what appears to be a Renoir. Days later, Fiona finds Nigel dead, an apparent suicide.

Refusing to accept the verdict, a distraught Fiona employs a detective to help her discover the truth… Searching for the rightful owner of the painting brings Fiona close to someone who opens a chink in her broken heart. Can she answer some crucial questions before laying her brother's ghost to rest? Who betrayed Leo? Who knew about the stolen Renoir? And are they prepared to kill — again? Her books also offer a strong historical element, most often World War Two when the Germans invaded the island.

In the sixth novel in the set, Fiona and her twin brother, Nigel, discover hidden artwork in the walls of an antique shop. I must say that The Betrayal has a very different feel to it than the other novels in the set. The island is still lovingly described, the characters just as interesting and well developed, but the underlying mystery is so prominent in this story; in fact, in parts, it is almost a thriller. The pacing is faster right from the opening chapter with Teresa and Leo deciding whether to run from the invading Germans or not.

And the ending is just as exciting. All in all, totally unputdownable! To sum up, this is a wonderful novel, with tons of pace where pace is needed, and a setting so lovingly described, it is almost a character in the book. I am happy to recommend this story, in fact, all of them, to anybody who enjoys a well-plotted mystery populated with convincing and always credible characters.

Betrayal, injustice and revenge echo down the years… Olive marries farmer Bill Falla. The Germans occupy Guernsey. Natalie Ogier returns to Guernsey to escape an abusive relationship — only to be plagued by odd happenings in her beautiful cottage on the site of a derelict and secluded farm. Disturbing dreams, disembodied voices and uncanny visions from the past. Thrown together in a bid to find out what really happened to Olive, can they each survive the repercussions of the past and move on? A stunningly good read. Let me begin by saying how gripping this story is.

Not only is the plot packed full of twists and turns, but the setting — and the characters — are lovingly described. There is, I think, nothing better than a novel written by an author who knows how to balance setting, speech and plot. So, what did I like? Well, trust me, this opens BIG, hooking the reader in… I also very much enjoyed the pacing of this novel.

So, although it is a family saga of sorts it is also very much a thriller and a mystery, and the style of writing reflects that. So, would I recommend this book? Yes, absolutely. And who to? Well, pretty much anybody and everybody. If you enjoy a good thriller, this is for you. If you enjoy a complex family saga, this is for you. Or, if you simply love Guernsey, this is for you.
